Were in New Orleans learning and Sharing with many other Pro Photographers

We are in New Orleans learning and sharing with some 200 other Professional Photographers.

It's our fourth anual gathering among coleagues and friends from around the country

It's always exciting to share and to learn from others within our profession, it allows us to excell in what we offer our clients and boost our the passion for what we do.

The Image shown here was captured from our hotel room window on the first night of our trip

Hope you and yours are having an awesome start to your summer

Summer time means Road Trips and Convention...

A recent image of me captured while teaching a wedding photography class at Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC)

This image was made by one of my students,
Cristie Magnusson wile I was explaining Depth of Field.

This summer brings a close to my fourth year teaching at BPCC, which I love doing almost as much as photography itself - because I learn as much as I share.

This Fall I will again be teaching Digital Photography at BPCC
mean while Zogail and I will be departing for one of the many road trips we are committed to this summer.

The first is called Pro4um school
where we will be sharing and learning with some 200 other working professional photographers.
We are committed to learning how to better serve and provide even more great images to you our customers.

Schools and Seminars are just one of the ways we learn how to do this, it also helps keep us passionate and motivated to provide the best there is to our clients as well as the students that I teach.

After 4 days at Pro4Um school we come home for a few dyas and then we head out to Children's Portrait Professionals International convention where we will learn even more and have also been asked to share a few tips of our own.

From there we take a few days to relax with old friends in Alabama and Georgia and then back home.

Mean while Jayne (Steve's Mom) will be manning our Studio and will accomodate any questions and or appointment requests.

Zogail and I hope you and yours have a fantastic summer
and if you still need a portrait session please telephone us as soon as possible and we will find a slot between our road trips !

Mo and Friends

One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is sharing the celebrations in life and for me teaching, learning and sharing with others.

At a recent BPCC (Bossier Parish Community College) Field Trip I showed students
some common and even a few uncommon weding day poses.

The Models were Justin & Haley, they are good friends of Maureen Wilkinson who is not only one of my students but a very acomplished new young photographer.

Any way here is a very short movie of some of what we did..............

Tips for Parents for a great portrait session

We have recently noticed more and more parents having a difficult time on portrait day
We want your session to be pleasant for your children, you and everyone concerned.

So maybe a few Tips that I recently learned from a fellow Profesional photographer during a recent seminar at a convention.

Mom's and Dad's want quality from their investment
we understand that and strive to deliver it.

However does little Johnny or Salley understand this,
more often than not the answer is no.

Especially if Mom and/or Dad try and bargain with their child to smile and say cheeeeze
instead of teaching children to learn to smile so big their eyes literally close

Maybe we need a different approach.....

getting the kids interested in portrait day may be a lot easier if we do not
bribe, threaten or beg for smiles filled with eyes closed

instead let's talk about how much Fun
it will be when we go play at Steve and Gail's studio
They are always so Nice
and Mommy and Daddy love when you are Happy on Picture Day

The Key words to talk about are in Bold
these are words that kids connect with
much easier and more pleasantly than
bribes.
Bribes are short lived and in fact not real untill you are either home or at the Toy store buying that item.

So in the future when you have planned a portrait session
maybe concentrate on talking with your child several times about how much fun
how nice it is and how much Mommy and Daddy love when Salley or Johnny enjoy having their pictures taken

The smiles will come more naturally
The stress will be much lower
Eeveryone will be happier
